Early Light & Clean Lines: Photographing CloseKnit's New Greenbelt Location
CloseKnit is a hybrid primary care provider Closeknit bringing together virtual and in-person healthcare — the kind of space designed to feel less clinical and more human. This particular location was a new build in Greenbelt, Maryland, and the team behind it was exceptional: Interplan, a full-service commercial architecture and interior design firm, handled the design vision and photo direction, while Korth Construction built out the space with the precision they've brought to commercial projects since 1982.
The brief was straightforward — capture the space at its best. But more than documenting a room, the goal was to capture the feeling of a place at the start of a new chapter.
We scheduled an early morning shoot to take advantage of natural light before the day got moving. That soft, early clarity helped reveal the clean architecture, considered details, and calm energy that make the location distinctive. A couple of staff members graciously stepped in as models, giving the space a lived-in, welcoming energy without overpowering the architecture.
The interior had a clean, considered aesthetic — the kind of design that rewards a photographer. Good bones, intentional lighting, thoughtful detail work. The approach was patient and observant — finding meaningful angles and natural moments that reflected the true character of the space. My job was to stay out of the way and let it do the talking.
Post-production happened back at the home studio — careful edits to balance exposure, bring out warmth in the tones, and make sure every frame reflected what Interplan and Korth had actually built. The result is a set of images that feels polished without losing its authenticity.
For businesses opening or expanding into a new location, photography can do more than show what a space looks like. It communicates atmosphere, identity, and the care behind the experience. In a growing market like the DC metro area, that kind of visual storytelling helps a brand make a strong and lasting impression. CloseKnit's Greenbelt location is a strong example of that — clean composition, subtle detail, and a focus on place that tells a story that feels current, confident, and memorable.
This is exactly the kind of work I love — connecting a great design team with images that do it justice. When a new space opens with intention, the images should feel just as considered.
